Physician Networking

Get Connected to your Peers and Community

To most effectively serve your community, you must also be a part of it. Find a local mentor, connect with fellow physicians, or find your local chapter of weekend warriors to unwind with.

AHEC Alaka'i

More important than recruitment, is caring for and retaining the talented physicians and health workforce that are here in Hawaiʻi. Whether you are new to Hawaiʻi, coming back home, or have recently started your health career, AHEC Alakaʻi is here for you. AHEC Alakaʻi is a 1-to-1 mentorship program designed specifically to help physicians grow and succeed in Hawaii.

Alakaʻi is the Hawaiian word for a leader, guide, or mentor. More than just a teacher (kumu), alakaʻi are those who support growth and self-development, acting as a guide and support network for their mentees. Our goal is to provide you with the seeds to build a professional and social network, which will inevitably promote the growth of healthy roots in Hawaiʻi.

AHEC Alakaʻi is completely free and staffed completely by volunteers who have years of personal and professional experience in Hawaiʻi. Our goal is to create a healthier and socially sustainable Hawaiʻi by increasing access to well-trained and culturally competent physicians, like yourself. Sign up to meet a mentor today!

Interest Groups

Whether it is finding something new or continuing a hobby you’ve enjoyed for years, We’re here to help you get connected. Along with the obvious water sports like surfing, stand-up paddleboarding, or fishing, Hawaiʻi also has avid communities of cyclists, tennis players, and even close-up magicians.
Facebook Groups is a fantastic way to find local communities of those who you have common interests with. Right here at AHEC, we are currently forming interest groups of physicians like you. Stay connected with us for updates and events.

Professional Groups

Hawaiʻi has a unique cultural and professional landscape that tremendously values interpersonal and lasting relationships. To succeed and make the most of the available resources in your professional field, it is best to connect with your peers at your organization, in your specialty, and in the healthcare industry in Hawaiʻi.
Ask your employer about any groups within your organization, talk to your peers at CME seminars, and there is the good old web search when all else fails. Right here at AHEC, we are currently forming professional networking groups of physicians like you. Stay connected with us for updates and events.
