Hawai‘i Physician Workforce Data

Physician Workforce Reports/Statistics

The Hawaiʻi Pacific AHEC conducts an annual Physician Workforce Assessment to see how many full-time physicians Hawaiʻi has, and where they are. All of the findings of our assessments are available here for public access. If you would like to learn more about the annual workforce assessment or get involved, please get in touch with us. Our hard-working volunteers and partners make data collection for our annual assessment possible.

The data collected during the physician workforce assessment is presented at the annual Hawaiʻi Health Workforce Summit, a free one-day conference for healthcare providers and administrators. Learn more about the Workforce Summit at the link below.

It’s important to remember that physicians don’t work alone! In order to deliver quality care, the State of Hawaiʻi relies on thousands of skilled healthcare professionals across a variety of roles and specialties. From nurses, medical assistants, and radiologic technicians to mental health specialists, pharmacists, and physical therapists, every member of the healthcare team plays a critical role in supporting the health and well-being of our communities. Hawai'i currently needs thousands of other healthcare workers as outlined in these reports from the Healthcare Association of Hawai'i and the Center for Nursing.
